Donations
are needed & appreciated
|
You can
help this program SUCCEED. Donations of all kinds
are accepted. Donations of money, property, goods,
& services are of great help.
Horses
are expensive to maintain. They require hay,
grain, bedding, vet service and farrier service on a
regular basis.
Equipment
is also very expensive. Helmets range from $30 to
$90, saddles can range from $400 to $2,000, riding
surcingles are $400 to $1,000, and safety stirrups range
from $50 to $200. Adaptive riding equipment is
expensive and few cannot participate without some of the
adaptive aids.
Volunteers
are the one most important asset to this riding
program. Classes are usually made up of 5
students. Each student may need the aide of three
persons to participate in a given session: two
side walkers and a lead horse person. Per session,
up to 15 volunteers may be needed to work with the
student plus volunteers needed to groom and tack horses
in-between sessions. People who can clean stalls
and feed & water the horses are also needed.
Barn personnel are very important to the well being of
the horses. A well-maintained barn gives the
program good healthy animals to work with.
Northwoods
Equestrian Stables and Therapeutic Riding Center is
going to be a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization.
We will rely on grants, fundraising events, and
individual and corporate donations to meet our operating
costs. There is no government funding and most
insurance companies do not cover therapeutic riding
lessons. Most parents pay directly for lessons.
